Whilst we’ve been very busy of late here on the Ffarm,
of course there is more to it than purely agriculture (involved though that inevitably is). Our business is multi-faceted: we run a farm, craft gelato – & of course have to market, sell & deliver said product. Not to mention completing the raftloads of paperwork which accompany such a venture…
So today I’d arranged to attend a Workshop to brush up my commercial skills. Sponsored by the Food, Fish & Market Development Division of the Welsh Assembly Government & run by True Marketing, it covered marketing & selling at trade fairs, food fairs & Farmers’ Markets. As ever it was a fascinating, well-run & thought-provoking programme with lots of practical activities as well as the theory sessions.
As we’re relatively new to marketing this was just the tool I needed for my skills box – & a two-course lunch was even provided. So if you’re a new or small food business here in Wales, I’d highly recommend attending the True Marketing courses – probably the best £30 you can invest in your business. The skills you’ll acquire will certainly help turn the pennies into pounds….
Meanwhile on the ‘flip’ side (or should I say, the farm side of the business) all was mercifully quiet: nobody popped out any kids during my absence, & little Celynen is doing wonderfully well – & already developing into a cheeky personality!
