Fire & Ice

Still here; still snowed in…..

…but at least there’s occasional, light rain, now; a gusting wind; & hail.  But the onset of the thaw has brought its own treachery.  The overnight freeze has transformed the yards into a slippery skating rink; it’s almost impossible to keep upright as there’s a thin layer of water over the ice & I stagger, Bambi-like, about my business. Whilst the chores have been taking an age over the past few days, today everything takes even longer as I struggle to manage in the dangerous conditions.

But at least there’s the  brief beauty of a stunning sunset….

Sunset over the Frenni Mountains

Uplifting though it is, an uneasy thought stirs in the back of my mind….the temperature is dropping – again.  Against the fire of the sunset the threat of another overnight freeze fills me with dread for the slippery challenges that the new day will doubtless bring.  Here we go again!
