At the Turning of the Year

fireworks….The clock struck midnight.

But are they the promising peals of a peaceful & prosperous 2009, or the clanging chimes of Credit Crunch-filled doom….?  Only time will tell – & all we can do, is not play into the hands of Fate but work hard to shape our destiny.

And at the stroke of midnight, whilst the cork popped from the champagne Tony & I hastened outside to ensure all was quiet in the valley, concerned that the festive fireworks exploding with such enthusiasm over the London Eye would be echoed in the little village on the distant hill.  Whilst cats, dogs & goats were all safely tucked up indoors the ponies & sheep were all outside, albeit in fields close to the farmstead, carefully selected for their high, protectively-screening hedgerows.

But we needn’t have worried.  All was blissfuly quiet; & in the clear, cool midnight air Tony & I sipped champagne together, warm in each other’s embrace, as a shooting star blazed across the star-strewn sky, a hopeful symbol of a bright New Year to come…..

sounds like the perfect ending to this cliffhanger to me… except, like all endings, it’s also a beginning. a new year, new hopes, new dreams, new challenges, new successes.
