Sylvia, our fine neighbour & formidable friend, called today:
she has friends staying, one of whom is ‘mad about goats’ (though Sylvia cannot fathom why as she thinks they’re dreadful creatures at least, when they grow from being appealling kids to bruising adults – but each to their own, eh?!). Said friend wishes to visit the Ffarm, to see our girls. Under normal circumstances I’d be delighted to receive visitors, & show them around; however, with the current FMD restrictions these are not ‘normal’ circumstances; hence I regretfully had to say a firm ‘no’ on this occasion. Whilst Sylvia was not best pleased, she does at least appreciate that we are doing our utmost to protect both our own & our neighbours’ livestock; especially with Tony commuting regularly to & from Heathrow & driving through potentially afflicted areas. The FMD restricitions have been relaxed very slightly – restricted movement of calving cows is now permitted – but sorry Sylvia, we just can’t take the risk of having visitors yet – much as we’d sincerely love to help.
